Discussion of the Week: Do You Prefer Listening More To "Indie" or "Mainstream" Music?

Indie Vs. Mainstream. It's easy for many of us to say both....as long as the music's good. But the real question here is: Do You Support Indie Music? Support it by buying it online, or even going to an indie show. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: "Being an indie musician is one of the hardest jobs a person can ever have." Not only do you have to be your own manager, promoter, social media marketer, and booking agent....but you still have to find time to tour, record, and maybe fuel your creativity by writing a song here and there....and all for very little in return.

That being said, I like certain mainstream acts as much as the next person, but I'm sorry, I wouldn't dare pay $500 to see a Beyonce/Jay-Z concert.....Hell, that's a Rent Payment! Now if they were 'On The Run' from Solange, that might be a different story. The point is, that if you can spend $500 on concert tickets, then surely you have enough for a .99 download from your favorite indie artist. Now I'm sure that seeing Beyonce in concert was an experience, but I've seen Jay-Z in concert, and there is nothing special to report there.....He just walks up and down the stage, and occasionally stops in the middle of the stage to illustrate a point to the audience. I've easily seen indie concerts that were far more exciting than that.....
