Throwback Thursday- The S.O.S. Band

Throwback Thursday- The S.O.S. Band

Synthesized 80’s Funk at its best. Side chicks everywhere rejoiced when this song came out in March 1983. Finally, they had a song that represented their thoughts and feelings…..”People always talking about reputations…I don’t care about your other girls, just be good to me.” The S.O.S Band was one of the many groups that were lucky enough to come out just after the fall of disco; otherwise their sound would have been classified in the latter. Written by Jam and Lewis, “Just Be Good To Me” was a bonafide hit, and one of those tunes that you probably wouldn’t want to sing around your parents….at least not back in those days, anyhow. I always thought this song was unique in the sense that it blatantly and un-apologetically embraced infidelity; a subject that most songs danced around at that time. Even if you’re not a fan of the message, you no doubt can’t help but to love the song….

Hey, I say, “to each his own”…. If it works for them, then who am I to judge? After all, the heart wants what it wants. As long as "wifey" doesn’t find out the truth…..Then that becomes inspiration for a whole different song altogether.

Enjoy this trip in time back to March 1983
