Discussion of the Week- What's The Most Beautiful Song You've Ever Heard?
Happy Monday, Musicheads! If you’re a sappy, hopeless romantic like myself, you know that some songs just rock you down to your core. It could be because of something in the song that you can relate to….It could be because of a memory that that the song evokes in you….or it could be describing the hope of something (or someone) special that is about to come in your life. Whatever the case, there are certain songs that you hear that just make you have a Keanu Reeves moment and let out a profound (and I quote), “Woah.”
There are a few songs that do that for me, but none more than Billy Preston & Syreeta Wright’s, “With You I’m Born Again.” Released in 1980, the song was on the soundtrack to the movie, Fastbreak, and was a minor hit here in the US; faring much better overseas in the UK. Aside from the fact that it’s a beautifully written song, what really brings it home is the delivery from both Preston and Wright. Preston’s vocals are in a sense masculine and protective; whereas though Wright’s soprano tone flows effortlessly to bring the perfect balance to the track. It’s one of those songs that everytime I hear it, I just can’t help but to get all up in my feelings.
