Discussion of the Week- What's The Greatest Rock Album You've Ever Heard?

Happy Monday Musicheads! I have a question for you: When you think of great albums, what’s the first thing that immediately comes to mind? The Joshua Tree? Dark Side of the Moon? Hotel California? This is very rare space we’re operating in here. After all, its easy to make a great single, but it’s another thing entirely to make a great album. A great album is in short, a work of art; and has to possess certain elements that cohesively tie it together. It has to feel as though it’s taken the listener on a journey, and most importantly, it has to feel complete at the end. For me, one album in particular directly comes to mind:

Abbey Road is nothing short of a timeless, musical masterpiece, and is the culmination of a career that (at that point) had spanned an entire decade. Each song on the album was epic in its own right, and really gave all 4 members a chance to shine through as talented songwriters themselves. I would argue that some of their best work, either as a band or solo is included on this one album. There are no such thing as “filler songs” on Abbey Road. Every song could have easily been a single in its own right

The album opens with the ridiculously bluesy “Come Together;” fades into the hauntingly sweet “Something,” and ends with not one, but two medleys of formerly individual concepts that were fused together to create musical magic.

If you’ve never heard the album in its entirety, do yourself a favor and listen to it below…Trust me, you’ll be glad you did….And if you have time, sound off in the comments, or on our Twitter, and let us know what your pick is for the “Greatest Rock Album of All Time, and Why?”
